waiting for the ups guy...

i'm not good at waiting. i seem to lack the patience need to wait for things. or then again, perhaps i just lack the patience waiting around my place during my vacation for the ups guy to show up. AC mentioned once that everyone likes to see the ups guy...i'm more of a... "why can't you just leave it at the front door?" kind of person. rationally, i know that it isn't the ups guy's fault...it is the fault of the vendor/sender who requires a signature. it is a pain in the ass. it isn't so much of a pain in the ass when i'm working from home, but this is the last of my vacation...and i'd rather be doing other stuff than waiting around for the ups guy.

to help distract me and soothe my general crabbiness, i made myself some noodle soup today. there is something about soup isn't there? i love them... i love the comfort and the warmth. i love how asian soups allow for maximum interaction with your dish. i also love how slurping noodle soup is not "rude" in asian or asian-american households....that would be rather silly wouldn't it? noodle soup is one of my core staples...i have it at least 3 times a week and usually encompasses whatever i have in the fridge...in this case, it was purple carrots,

dino kale, and ca grown shiitake mushrooms. because the carrots take a while to cook, i made the broth with the veggies, chicken "better than bouillon", nuoc mam, and chili flakes.....

and then when the base is ready, i added an egg and then the thick rice noodles. sometimes i just eat the soup directly from the pot once the noodles are ready....yet, i decided to put some of the soup in to a bowl to take a decent shot...

as usual, it was very yummy. sigh, it help soothe me...now i can only hope that the ups guy will show up before my warm happy glow wears thin.
