an off day at the berkeley farmers' market?

it feels like it has been ages and ages since i've been to the berkeley farmers market....when in reality, it was really only a few weeks ago that i stopped by to do a dart in for blue bottle coffee beans and a dart back out again. i usually try to avoid spending too much time around the saturday market because it is usually really crowded. yet, this afternoon, i kept wondering if i was in the right place...because i arrived at the market around 1pm...which is usually pretty busy and next to nothing left. yet, it wasn't crowded at all....

and there was still plenty of produce. odd.

it must have been an off day or something, because usually when i visit the blue bottle stand, there is always a line and the beans are almost gone...by, like, 11:30ish....and here it was 1pm and look at all of the bags of beans still available...

i went to my usual places....that included the mushroom lady....

catalan farms....

happy boy farms....

riverdog farm.....

as well as a "new" (to me) stand ....

where i bought some lovely chicory...

while it was nice to actually leisurely shop for produce at saturday's market....the lack of people made me a bit alarmed. i know the economy isn't at its best (that is a major understatement)....yet, i would have thought that the farmers markets would be ok....particularly in the bay area. i would have thought that more people would be at the markets....doing even more cooking at home, as opposed to eating out. i hope this was just an off day. i really do.
