mellowness

i'm getting ready to check-out of the hotel, grab some breakfast with some loved ones, and then head back into the city. interestingly enough, despite my typical preparedness and pre-plannedness, i didn't have any set plans before the nuptials yesterday. i paid a visit to the local indie bookstore on friday (one of my core travel habits is visiting the local indie bookstore. always.) thinking it might be rather nice to just cuddle down with a book before the events of the evening began. yet, in uncharacteristic spontaneity, i ended up hanging out with some friends beforehand and we had a mellow breakfast....

followed by a leisurely picnic of random goodies....

i can see the appeal of "getting away" in wine country. it was a nice and low key to hang out among a bunch of olive trees. one point, i almost ended up taking a nap on one of the nearby tables. there is something about the quiet, the sun, and various nibbles that lulls me. i was speaking to someone later on and he talked about being glad about having the life he wanted despite being told that he wouldn't be able to have it. i can understand that one. i'm still going about creating the life that i want and it feels quite good to do so.
